Senior Wellness - Balance and Flexibility
As we age our muscle mass decreases and our range of motion is hampered by a loss of elasticity in tendon, ligaments, and joint capsules. This process increases the risk of falls and other injuries. Although we can't avoid aging, we can slow down and even reverse some of this process with exercise. When you work with a PTI trainer special attention will be given to increasing your balance, strength, and flexibility. Personal training will also help quicken your reaction time, which means if you do bump into something or trip you're more likely to be able to regain your balance without falling. In addition to all the other benefits, regular weight bearing exercise can help you increase bone density and prevent or slow the progression of osteoporosis, so if you do experience a fall you may come away with bruises instead of broken bones.
